The Fountainhead

Reiki is an ancient art of laying on of hands. We all know that the moment we hurt ourselves or a loved one hurts themselves our first instinct is to touch the pained area and hold it. Human touch conveys warmth, serenity, love, caring and healing. When an animal is in pain its first instinct is to lick the pained area. This simple act is the basis for all touch healing techniques.

The body radiates warmth and energy. This energy is the life force itself. In Japan the energy is termed Ki and it is from this word that Reiki is named. Rei is universal, transcendental spirit, mysterious power, or essence and Ki is described as the vital life force energy. Everything alive contains and radiates Ki it is the biomagnetic energy of the aura (our body’s etheric double or energy blueprint).

Reiki is different from other healing techniques in that a Reiki Healer has been through the process of Reiki attunements, (a connection (at-one-ment), to the limitless source of Ki enabling the channeling of this Ki) and has experienced a very ancient technology for fine tuning the physical and etheric bodies to a higher vibratory level. Certain energy centers, known as chakras, are opened to enable the person to channel (and vibrate) higher amounts of life energy or Ki.

The Reiki Healer once having had received the necessary attunements has only to place his two hands down to heal, either on a painful area or using the Reiki Full Body Hand Positions treatment. The Reiki – universal life force energy does the rest without any direction, flowing through the healer’s hands. The healer may or may not know what needs healing, but the energy has an intellignece far beyond human and will go where it is needed. The energy heals on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level. The person applying Reiki thus becomes a channel for Divine Healing Energies which flow through to the other person.

The Reiki symbols are sacred and are only revealed to those who have taken Second Degree Reiki and up attunement is required in order to use the symbols. The symbols are Sanskrit in nature and are drawn or visualized in order to activate them. Reiki symbols have a consciousness of their own and are the keys that open doors to higher levels of awareness or manifestation, when used with intent results are magnetized. The Reiki Healer will thus use the symbols to increase the power of the healing.

The client may feel this energy as a warm glow, coldness, vibration, pulsation, tingling, other sensations or no sensations at all. All healing requires free choice and a person may choose to remain ill. Illness is not some accidental or diagreeable upset, not is it a sign of weakness. It is an opportunity for insight, growth and evolvement towards wholeness.

The body is scanned over the chakras to determine if there is blocked or weakened energy and Reiki may be beamed to that chakra specifically. Energy blocks that are present may be removed by scooping energy out of the blocked area. Reiki energy is sent through the front and back of the body through the chakra energy points and may begin from the head down for relaxation or from the feet up for recharging energy.

At the end of the treatment the persons aura is sealed and their chakras rebalanced.

Balancing the chakras in turn balances the endocrine system and thus organs supplied by that system.

The Chakras help the body distribute energy for its various physical, emotional, mental and spiritual functions.They are connected to the functions of the physical body, primarily through the endocrine (hormonal) glands and the spinal system.They radiate energy through the various spinal contacts.

This energy is distributed throughout the body by means of the nerve pathways and circulatory systems. In this way all the organs, tissues and cells receive the vibrational energy accordingly. Reiki is effective in restoring balance.

Root chakra: Chakra of Physical dimension
Is tied to functions of circulatory system, reproductive system, functions of lower extremities eg testicles, ovaries, legs, feet, the pelvic area.

Malfunctions: obesity, constipation, sciatica, degenerative arthritis, anorexia, knee troubles, Depression

Sacral Chakra: Chakra of Creativity, Pleasure and Sexuality
It influences the reproduction system and entire muscular system. It affects the eliminative system, pancreas, kidneys, and gonads. It also governs sensation and emotion, desire, pleasure and sexuality.

Malfunctions: impotence, fridigity, bladder or kidney problems, stiff lower back

Solar Plexus Chakra: The Center of Empthy and General Physic Impressions, Awareness of others & their talents
Includes the digestive system, adrenals, pancreas, stomach, liver, gallbladder and nervous system. Left brain hemisphere and thus effects logical thinking and right side of body.

Heart Chakra: Center through which we feel love, Awakens higher compassion, Healing Abilities
Influences the function of the thymus gland and the entire immune system of the body. It is tied to the heart and pulmonary activities along the circulatory system and vagus nerve. It also ties to the activities of tissue regeneration.

Throat Chakra: Center of Communication, Awakens Clairaudience, Manifesting Abundance
Tied to the functions of the throat, oesophagus, mouth, teeth, thyroid and parathyroid glands. Affects the respiratory system, the function of the bronchi and entire vocal apparatus. Relates to right hemisphere of the brain and thus the creative, imaginative, emotional side and left side of body.

Malfunction: Sore throat, stiffneck,colds, thyroid problems, and hearing problems

Brow Chakra: Affects Higher Clairvoyance, Magneticism of the Body, Female Energies, Intuitive Perception, Creative Imagination and Visualization
This is called the “third eye” as it sits in the middle of the head in the point between the eyebrows. It influences the functions of the pituitary and entire endocrine system. It balances the hemispheres of the brain. It affects the sinuses, left eye, ears, nose, nervous system and face in general.

Malfunctions: blindness, headaches, nightmares, eye-strain and blurred vision

Crown Chakra: Our Most Spiritual Essence, Aligns uswith Force of the Universe, Purification of Subtle Body Energies
Effects the functions of the entire nervous system and entire skeletal systemof the body. It influencesthe pineal gland, all nerve pathwaysand the electrical currents within the body. It is linked to the medulla oblongata and the right eye.

Malfunctions: Alienation, confusion, boredom, apathy, inability to learn or comprehend

Each person draws in just the right amount of energy/Ki that they need to release, activate or transform the energy of the physical and etheric bodies. Reiki can effect change in the chemical structure of the body,thus helping regenerate organs, rebuild tissue and bone. It also helps create balance on the mental level.
